Discover our National Parks

The Scenic Rim is home to eight internationally significant world-heritage National Parks and the largest remaining tract of sub tropical 'Gondwana' rainforest in the world. We're part of the iconic 'Green Cauldron' – an ancient volcanic hotspot which over the years has grown into a lush landscape filled with unique flora and fauna. This incredible natural habitat varies widely, so it's best to research our parks first if you'd prefer a specific kind of natural experience or use our guide to top Scenic Rim bush walks.

Mt Tamborine NP, and Lamington NP are dominated by thick rain-forest canopies, with towering fig trees, slender palms, fern-lined waterfalls and crystal clear rapid-filled swimming holes. Around Mt Barney, in the Main Range and Moogerah Peaks NP's you'll also find more of the classically-termed Australian bush, with its famed eucalypt forests, montane heaths, dramatic exposed rock face gorges and cool natural rock pools. Lots of walks also offer spectacular views.

Wherever you go, you'll chance upon a glimpse of our iconic Australian wildlife and some rare species including the seldom-seen Albert's lyrebird and black-breasted button quail and Coxen's Parrot. Some are shy, some are brazen and many can be heard but not seen.

To find a walking track to match your needs, explore our parks below or use our guide to the Top Scenic Rim bush-walks. Our geology is also unique and quite fascinating.
