About Mt Tamborine

The Gold Coast hinterland’s Tamborine Mountain is sometimes called the ‘green behind the gold’ – a sub-tropical sanctuary less than an hour from Brisbane, overlooking the high-rises of the coast. Mt Tamborine romantic getaways are popular, as are family holidays where you can swap the rush of the city with a unique blend of pristine national park rain forests and waterfalls, fresh mountain air, country-markets, playful art galleries, craft outlets, boutique shopping, restaurants, cafes and much more.

On weekends, look out for hang-gliders taking off from the western escarpment, country markets and farm gate stalls dotted around the mountain. The rich volcanic soils support diverse orchards and plantations including avocado, kiwifruit and macadamia nuts. You’ll also notice Tamborine’s unique climate – several degrees cooler in summer and charmingly cosy in winter with opportunities to snuggle in front of an open fire as you look out on the swirling mist outside.
