~local properties ~ local gardens ~ local unique experiences~

Mt Barney is within the beautiful Scenic Rim right on Brisbane’s doorstep to the south, and is the setting for the “A World Apart” food and wine discovery tour.

Here five tourism operators have revived the ‘old wooden signposts’ for one weekend only to entice and guide you along. The operators are unique in working together for this annual event to help you explore the beautiful Mt Barney Valley.

Each location offers a free “taste of Mt Barney” with local and homemade fare.

This will be the tenth year A World Apart will occur. As always, tickets are FREE, and can be collected from any of the participating businesses on the day, online or from local Visitor Information Centers.

The ticket has a local map, full details of the event, and doubles as your prize draw entry. All visitors to A World Apart are in the running to win prizes such as local products and experiences, just for having a great day out!!

A World Apart had been featured on The Great South East, and included in Great Gourmet Weekends of Australia.

Ayton Farm

Rod and Kathy raise the happiest chickens in the Scenic Rim. They “grow” both pastured eggs and meat chickens.

Pastured chickens roam around in an open paddock that is bordered by protective temporary fencing.

At A World Apart they are offering a farm tour at 10am, 12pm and 3pm to learn more about the health benefits of pastured and organic fed chickens and eggs, the farming setup, as well as produce tastings.

Don’t forget to bring an esky with ice as eggs and fresh chicken will be available for sale.
