Local produce, organic, 100-mile diet
As the pace of life gets faster, the value of organic and locally grown food becomes more apparent. A growing number of Scenic Rim food producers and chefs are drawing inspiration from the wide variety of high-quality local produce, tailoring their menus to capture our unique, high-quality flavours.
If you’d like to take home our fresh produce, look out for ‘farm-gate‘ stalls beside our country roads, especially on Tamborine Mountain and in the Fassifern Valley near Boonah. Some of our Country Markets also sell locally grown fruit and vegetables. You’ll find organic food outlets on Mt Tamborine and at Boonah, as well as Mt Tamborine’s fortnightly market.
For Scenic Rim cheese, wine and olives, tasting visits to wineries, vineyards, factories and growers can be the best source of take-home supplies.
The well-known 100-mile diet phenomena – where all produce is sourced from within a 100-mile radius – is also followed by some Scenic Rim accommodation providers. This is an easy way to help reduce your carbon-footprint for a guilt-free holiday.
