This Saturday and Sunday, (May 26& 27), the Scenic Rim’s Mt Barney region will come alive for a culinary adventure, as five unique venues open their doors and gardens, offering a diverse variety of delightful regional food and wine experiences.
There are FREE tastings and tours at each venue, as well as unique gardens.
Barney Creek Vineyard Cottageswine tasting is free, plus wines and vineyard platters available for purchase. Enjoy the “Gallery in the Garden” with watercolour and acrylic artworks. Stroll around the rambling country garden and experience a riot of autumn colours.
Classi di Cucina Italiana has free gelato tasting while wood-fired gourmet pizzas and minestrone will be on sale. Allow time to see the six sculptures in their sculpture garden and meet Ciaro the camel and all the other members of the menagerie.
Mt Barney Lodge – explore the sustainable gardens – or join the free bushtucker tour and tastings. Gourmet BBQ bushtucker, bush-lemon meringue pie and tearoom drinks are available for purchase – laze by the creek, or claim a rustic table.
Rathdowney Alpacas at “Triple Peaks” welcomes you with old-fashioned country courtesy. Learn about “all things alpaca” on a free farm tour, stroll around the neat cottage garden, and browse in “The Alpaca Shack” for alpaca fleece garments, accessories and giftware.
Thistledown Country Retreat has a series of federation themed closed gardens for you to explore as well as fun outdoor games. You can then relax and enjoy a Scottish morning or afternoon High Tea which will be on sale in the Homestead.
